It has always fascinated me how bycycles are being abandoned in a city. It takes months and maybe years for a bicycle to go through all the stages. Initially just a bit of corrosion is visible and dirt collects so there is not always a clear indication. Then the tires go flat and next some parts go missing. Now also vandalism comes on top, like kicking into the wheels or even some fire. More and more parts are disappearing until only two remain: the lock and the wheel or frame it is locking. After that it might still take some month until a public servant cuts the lock and puts the remains into garbage.
